Ssalefish GSO First Look #58 for 5.9.18

This is without a doubt one of the coolest projects we've ever pulled off! One of those things that just popped into my head with a tag of "wouldn't that be funny," transitioned to an Adobe project way beyond my meager means, and then with the help of my friends became an insane reality!

How did it happen you ask? I'm glad you asked.

1. The finished product that you'll be able to take you very own photos in beginning on Free Comic Book Day! The shower curtain backing was the final touch, added today!
2. The very first "proof of concept" "sketch" that I did while at the beach over Easter weekend. Basically I just found a JPEG of the Flounder Pop Box online, dropped it into Photoshop, and messed with the levels to make it more like the store colors and changed up the lettering.
3. The Photoshop template I used to measure out my own design. I opened it in Illustrator and then built the whole thing, including the Pop logo, from scratch on top of it so I could blow it up from the standard Pop box size to 14x the usual dimensions without losing any image quality.
4. The final print image. Once I put together all of the shapes in Illustrator, I brought it back over to Photoshop to do the modeling colors on the fish and sail.
5. Jay seeing the printed PVC boards for the first time at Sir Speedy!
6. Colton in the guts of the frame after our pal Jody built it. I ended up having to disassemble it and cut it down because the printer shrunk the design just slightly (hard to believe, I know!), and then I put it back together and added the sides!

And then for kicks, we did it all again in Winston this afternoon (page thumbnail)!
