Ssalefish GSO First Look #99 for 2.27.19

Me, Jay & Bret are down in Charlotte for the ComicsPRO Annual Retailer Meeting today through Sunday, and while things we’re hearing from Marvel, DC, and all of the other publishers aren’t particularly top secret (someone in this room always leaks everything), I’m just erring on the side of respect for now (other than typing this while Dan DiDio is talking) and sharing my new impulse buy (cost me my FF by Kirby & Lee, Flash by Geoff Johns, and Infinity Gauntlet Omniboo), a Fender Special Edition Standard Jaguar HH in Daphne Blue, the Ssalefish Sspecial!

I also found an old Epiphone acoustic guitar that I forgot I even had in a closet I was cleaning out in between episodes of Umbrella Academy last Friday (I’ll talk more about that next week once people have more of a chance to catch up watching it). Looking in my front room, now filling up with eight guitars, two guitar amps, two bass amps, two effects pedals, two floor switches, and counting, and me being just one person with but two arms with which to play them, it’s starting to feel eerily similar when that room was full of 50 long boxes of comics and me never having the time to re-read them all or sell them individually online. I don’t think I’ll be opening a music store next door to Ssalefish (I don’t think Music-Go-Round would take too kindly to that), but in truth, I’ve posted before that even though it takes different forms, and I’ve cut back my personal comic buying to the bone, the collecting bug is a real thing and never goes away.
