Ssalefish GSO First Look #294 for 12.21.22

I still can’t believe we’re less than 48 hours away from hosting Ray Park, Darth Maul himself, right here in Greensboro in our very own store! There have been a lot of frequently asked questions surrounding the event, so I will answer what I can now!

How early you start lining up is at your own discretion. We don’t know how many people will show up exactly. We have over 100 positive responses on Facebook for what that’s worth, we had 50-100 people for our Jason David Frank and Jason Faunt signings previously, but I know we’ve reach more than 2,500 people with the news, so it’s anyone’s guess. I don’t recommend waiting outside of your vehicle before sunrise if you feel like to need to arrive that early.

I DO know that Ray will stay until the last attendee has been seen. When Jason Faunt was here in March 2021, we stayed open two hours later to accommodate the last fans. So there’s no need to worry about the line being cut as long as there’s anyone else in attendance.

Come prepared to wait outside at least part of time. Currently the forecast is 46 degrees and sunny. The store opens at 11 AM like normal, so if you line up before then, you will definitely be outside. We have space for the first 15-20 people to queue inside at any given time once we do open, but the rest of the line will have to gather outside, preferably in the direction of Papa John’s so as to inconvenience as few of our neighbors as possible. You can still come-and-go inside for shopping purposes during all business hours.

We have Star Wars Black Series, Funko Pop Vinyl, & Sideshow Hot Toys figures, Del Rey prose novels, Marvel graphic novels, IDW & Marvel comic books, and Little Golden Books featuring Darth Maul available for purchase in-store. We’re not sure what other if any additional items Ray will be bringing to sell himself.

We DO NOT have a public restroom. Your best bet in the strip is to purchase something from Pika Tea down at the other end and use theirs.

Ray will only be taking cash payments for his signing and photo fees! If you need an ATM, the nearest ones are at Foggy Zone in the Shoppes on the Curve with us, the Pop Shoppe up at the corner of Stanley Road & Landmark Center, and in the parking lot of Golden Corral on Wendover.

CGC Signature Series grading will be available! It will be $80 per book, which includes Fast Track Modern Signature Series grading, invoice fees, and outbound & return shipping. We’re not offering pressing as an option to keep everything on the same invoice for faster turnaround times and cheaper shipping fees. With the holidays causing expected delays, we predict to have the books back in late January or early February 2023.

We reached out to James Spence Autograph Authentication about witnessing on the day, but didn’t hear back from them.

While you’re in, please have fun as we end the year on a high note, take part in our holiday cheer, be conscientious to the staff and your fellow fans, and do some last minute shopping as we have something perfect for everyone in your life, from stocking stuffers to once-in-a-lifetime gifts they’ll never forget!
