We’re prepared to get back to business!
Keeping everyone up to date with the latest, DC is continuing to ship new books to go on sale every Tuesday (and we’ll have all of them available on their release date) via their alternate distribution channels, and Diamond Comic Distributors, the direct market (comic shops)’s exclusive source of Marvel, Image, Dark Horse, IDW, Boom, Dynamite, and until very recently DC, is targeting Wednesday, May 20th for a return to regular, full weekly releases!
Since the current North Carolina Stay-at-Home order is in effect until Friday, May 8th at 5 PM, that’s when we’re planning on opening the store again with all necessary precautions in place, but anything can change at any time with shipping companies, printers, publishers, distributors, and governments, so for now we’ll cross our fingers and continue to use our Shipping Next Week section, ComicHub, eBay, and Amazon to get you what you need!
So what have WE been doing during the quarantine? Well, Colton has been living at my house for the last very nearly five weeks because I couldn’t leave him all alone in his apartment in Concord this whole time. We’ve been getting up by 9 every morning to pack and ship 30-60 orders each day, then we list on eBay and address other store business until about 3 PM. After that I flat pages for Michole’s new coloring project Cave Club, which also ties in to a new line of dolls from Mattel! When Carly gets home from work around 5 or 6, she and Colton begin a cultural exchange that consists of him watching her play Animal Crossing and her watching YouTube videos that he pulls up, all while I go in the basement and record full band guitar tracks, like the one below.
That’s about it, rinse & repeat, with fortnightly forays into Dungeons & Dragons via Roll-20 and Geeksboro Virtual Pub Trivia via Zoom, and staying up past my bedtime for What We Do In The Shadows on Wednesdays at 10 PM on FX.
