This weekend’s holiday festivities include a middle-aged dude hangout downtown tomorrow night, the Comics For Kids Sale ($1 Comics, $5 graphic novels or 5 for $20, $5 Funko Pops or 5 for $20, $5 Star Wars figures) at Geeksboro Battle Pub on Saturday from 9 AM - 2 PM, the Running of the Balls on Saturday night in Sunset Hills, and possibly a trip down to Charlotte to see baby Ellie on Sunday morning!

We’re prepping for our Comics For Kids Sale this Sunday from 1-7 PM at Geeksboro Battle Pub, located at 2618 Lawndale Drive! This will be about 6,500 $1 Books, plus our enhanced stock of $5 graphic novels (or 5 for $20), new $5 Pops (or 5 for $20), and comic sets, and the best part is that 100% of all of the proceeds from the event will go to purchase brand-new, all-ages books for kids throughout Guilford, Davidson, and Forsyth County!

I’m glad everyone enjoyed the Black Friday & Small Business Saturday sales last weekend! We’ve fully re-stocked all of the graphic novels that you guys picked up, but it will take us a couple of week to recover from being cleaned out of every Dragonball figurine we had on hand and John’s record-setting Buy 6 Get 6 Free statue purchase!

I’m pumped to finally reveal our Black Friday & Small Business Saturday sales for 2018! Basically, I kept just pushing how deep our discounts were in an attempt to give Bret a heart attack, including increasing all of our back issue deals by 10% since sharing a proof of our ads with him last night, but he never said again, so here we are!

Local Comic Shop Day is this Saturday, created by Bret in along with some of our fellow ComicsPRO members in 2015 to leverage publishers into creating limited edition items to kick off the holiday shopping season! All LCSD items are available in limited quantities in the shop and only available first come, first served, so we’ll see you first thing on Saturday!

Today I want to talk to you for a bit about the Comics 4 Kids program that we launched last year in conjunction with Geeksboro Battle Pub! Throughout 2016 & 2017, Geeksboro raised money through various fundraisers, and then used those proceeds and matched donations from Ssalefish to coordinate with us and purchase four individual Free Comic Book Day comics for 2,000 kids throughout Guilford, Forsyth, and Davidson County! As the press release I linked to says, this year we’d like to double that output to 4,000 kids, which breaks down to the need of raising approximately $4K.

Grant Morrison begins writing Green Lantern next Wednesday! I haven’t been as excited about a new ring-slinger comic since the Sinestro Corps Special #1 on June 27th, 2007! I hope you’ll come out and join in on the fun next Tuesday, November 6th at 11 PM as we will our way through the blackest night for a midnight release party! The standard Liam Sharp cover will be available along with the Frank Quitely variant, a blank sketch option, and the midnight release exclusive, along with all of the week’s other new releases!

I’m definitely more excited about this year’s Halloween ComicFest than I was about our first one, or maybe even Free Comic Book Day! I think it’s because of all the collaboration that’s gone into it, and feeding off of Michole & Hannah’s energy (Hannah did all of the decorating around the store and suggested Lois’s costume, Michole made up all of the goody bags and invited Lime out). All of our other artists (Ally Haney, Beck Seashols, & Chris Giarrusso) were pumped to come back or make their Ssalefish debut, and adding the incentive of an extra raffle entry for every $10 you spend at their tables and hourly drawings will give you more reason/ time to spend with them!

For lack of anything else to talk about today, I'll recommend two shows that I feel have fallen by the wayside.
