Firstly, in case you missed it, Lou Ferrigno’s plane was delayed getting to North Carolina today forcing us to reschedule our signing with him to this Saturday, February 22nd from 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM. Pricing and location is all the same, only the day and time has changed

Secondly, Colton and I are in Glendale, CA for the ComicsPRO Annual Meeting, on the cutting edge of all the latest news in the comics industry! I’m ashamed to say that the only Mexican food we’ve had came from Chipotle, but you can take the Colton out of the state, but you can’t take the state out of the Colton.

I’m not feeling great this evening as Carly and I went out to celebrate our 20th anniversary earlier and I stuffed myself silly, so I will keep this pretty brief. Lots of exciting stuff coming up in the next seven days including me and Colton’s trip to California and our signing with Lou Ferrigno! As revealed yesterday on Facebook, our next big celebrity signing will be on Thursday, February 20th from 5 PM - 7 PM with none other than TV’s Incredible Hulk himself, Lou Ferrigno! In addition to his starring role as the Jade Giant, Lou has also provided the voice of the Hulk for 2012’s Avengers and 2015’s Avengers Age of Ultron and appeared on screen in 2003’s Hulk, Comedy Central’s Reno 911, and the hilarious I Love You, Man, among dozens of other credits.

Stephen’s So-Called Emo Life!

• The Clash at Bowman Gray - very cool that the NASCAR Cup Series will be running the exhibition race right over in Winston-Salem this Sunday, but I was bummed that the cheapest tickets I could find were $250, too rich for my blood.

• Severance - I’m not an Adam Scott fan at all, but after hearing all the hype for years and that Jay enjoyed it so much that he rewatched season one in a matter of days before season two started, I figured that was enough to see what the big deal is about.

Stephen’s So-Called Emo Life!

• Long Island Compromise - Taffy Brodesser-Akner’s follow-up to Fleishman Is In Trouble, which was also adapted for FX. I’m about halfway through and really enjoy how her prose changes for each family member without making a big deal about it.

• Sex Lives of College Girls - on Max. I’m not sure what kept me away for three seasons since college-age coming-of-age stories are very much my wheelhouse, but Carly and I have plowed through a season and a half in the last two nights, so making up for lost time!

Today I signed me & Colton up to attend the ComicsPRO Annual Meeting in Glendale, CA, taking place February 20th - 22nd! I had been on the fence for a bit, but after realizing we had enough Skymiles banked for the tickets and hearing the news that Diamond Comics Distributors has declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy, it seemed like the place to be that we absolutely could afford. I’ll also get a kick out of being the person that takes Colton out of the Eastern time zone for the first time in his life!

When the weather forecast looks the way it does for this weekend, it’s always a conflicting feeling for me, torn between wanting operations at the store to go as normal and smoothly as possible and wanting a good ol’ snow day of yesteryear, cuddling up with hot cocoa after traipsing through fresh powder with the dogs.

Either way I would highly recommend you stop by and see us before tomorrow night while you’re out collecting bread and milk so you can also stock up on comics before the storm hits! Stay tuned to our usual social media (Instagram and Facebook) for any potential changes in business hours.

With the new year, we’re going to be slightly changing up our hours on Monday and Tuesday, opening 12 PM - 5 PM just like Sunday instead of 11 AM - 7 PM like Thursday - Saturday. Hopefully this tweak doesn’t affect you too badly and we look forward to seeing you during our new normal business hours!

Next week is back to a true full week of new releases with new jumping on points for Aquaman, Daredevil, Champions, and more!

Carly & I drove up to New Jersey two days before Christmas to spend the holidays with my Mom’s family. Way too much food and way too many presents later, we went into New York City today and crossed an item off my bucket list, going to see Harry Potter & the Cursed Child on Broadway!

Next week, we’ll be open regular business hours on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, so finish up 2024 by clearing out your pull folder or start 2025 off the right way with even more comics!
