When I say there's a ton of new stuff around pretty much the entire store, I'm not exaggerating at all. Last week we beefed up our kids section with offerings from our secondary distributor (Ingram Books), we're in the process of a month long build-up of our manga offerings throughout our trades, there's new masterpiece & boxed Transformers and vintage Star Wars figures in the cases, the backwall is beyond full-strength...you just have to see it all to believe it! And...

I'm relieved to say that Donny Cates is feeling much better, and we've rescheduled his signings for Saturday, February 17th! First he'll be in Greensboro from noon until 2 PM (obviously I'm biased and would love to see you here), and then it's off to Winston-Salem for another session from 4 until 6 PM!

It's been a humbling, but eye-opening experience being open the last two days. As far as I know, we're the only shop in the Triad that has been open for business since Tuesday or has new releases ready to go. Many of you put your lives on the line for your comics, and that is so inspiring. At the same time, there's something to be said for having the sense to call it quits when it's no longer safe for you or your customers to be out and about, even with nagging pride telling you to stay in the captain's chair.

Above are the Scott Pilgrim & Ramona Flowers original sketches I got in the mail today all the way from Australia, where they were drawn by the awesome Erin Hunting! Carly got them for me as a belated Christmas present after I expressed my displeasure that she actually called my bluff when I said "I don't want ANYTHING" for Christmas.

New year, new con schedule! We'll be set up at the Charlotte Mini Con on Saturday, January 27th at the Grady Cole Center in Charlotte, NC Comicon - Oak City on March 17th - 18th at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, our very own Twin City Comic Con on Sunday, April 8th at the Millenium Center in Winston, and HeroesCon on June 15th - 17th at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte!

Sunday around 1:30 PM will mark exactly a year since Jay and I kicked off this adventure, and as someone that went directly from high school to college to a 40-hour-a-week salaried position with feel health insurance, it was the first time in my life that things were pretty much completely uncertain on the work front. We knew where we wanted to head, I had saved all I could, and there was a gentleman's agreement in place, but we had no business license, no location much less a lease, and our timetable was just as soon as possible.

But I felt good, better than I had in a long time.

Store business first, we're planning on either being open normal hours on Sunday for Christmas Eve (12 - 5 PM) or possibly open and close earlier (10 AM - 3 PM), so stay tuned to the Facebook page for any updates. We'll be closed on Monday for Christmas, and then back to regular hours on Tuesday and onward for the foreseeable future (no plans to change for New Year's Eve or Day). According to our distributor, new releases should be on schedule for Wednesday, December 27th and Wednesday, January 3rd, but again we'll keep you posted if anything changes.

The rescheduled Festival of Holiday Lights at Elon was perfectly pleasant. I got a lifetime 5K PR during the Running of the Balls. And now tonight is Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi!

I've got my Poe jacket and my Resistance pilot backpack with me, but I decided to leave the lightsaber at home.

Even though liquidating more than half of my collection and opening the store quelled many of my collector/ completionist tendencies, putting the needs of our customers and, you know, money over my own, I'm not complete immune.
