It’s time this Saturday, October 26th for Halloween ComicFest, which I remind everyone is exactly like Free Comic Book Day, but with even better weather (if the rain holds out)! Keep in mind that we open and close an hour earlier than normal, so 10 AM - 7 PM, then we’ll be back to business as usual on Sunday!

In case you missed it on Facebook the other day, Bret did an interview with comics retail trade magazine ICv2 the other day in which he officially announced the opening of our third store in Concord in 2020!

As a teenager, going to Concord Mills Mall when it opened in 1999 was the height of shopping luxury. Bruton Smith, owner of Charlotte Motor Speedway, was a Rockefeller. PNC Music Pavilion was the home of punk rock summer camp. And we’re gonna be at the heart of all of it, at Exit 49 on I-85, on the other side of the highway from the mall, off Bruton Smith Boulevard, 2 miles from the track, 4 miles from the venue!

I never really talked about the new store logo when switched it on Facebook and Instagram back in September. Basically, as much as I love the Ben Towle image and even though I think it completely captures the spirit of the business, we needed something simpler for things like decals (coming as soon as I pick up some blue vinyl and FREE with any purchase of $25 or more) and doormats (also coming soon) that could also work in a square or circle, since that’s how most social media images are formatted.

I’d like to say that most of me and Bret’s time at New York Comic Con has been spent rubbing elbows with celebrities and handling extremely expensive and rare comics, but the truth is that I’ve mainly been eating and taking Office-related pictures for Colton, as you can see above!

It’s still 90 degrees outside, so it sure doesn’t seem like it, but it’s time to start thinking about Halloween, and more specifically Halloween ComicFest 2019!

Our guest of honor this year will be COPRA creator Michel Fiffe, who we’re flying in from NYC! Throughout stints on G.I. Joe (Sierra Muerte for IDW), Bloodstrike (Brutalists for Image), and All-New Ultimates (for Marvel), Fiffe’s been a tour-de-force, self-publishing one of the most compelling superhero books on the stands, and now he’s moving his efforts to Image to reach an even wider audience!

I hope that while I’m up in Chicago this weekend for Ellie’s first birthday party, you all come by and see Jay & Colton at the shop to participate in Batman Day 2019!
