New year, new con schedule! We'll be set up at the Charlotte Mini Con on Saturday, January 27th at the Grady Cole Center in Charlotte, NC Comicon - Oak City on March 17th - 18th at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, our very own Twin City Comic Con on Sunday, April 8th at the Millenium Center in Winston, and HeroesCon on June 15th - 17th at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte!

Sunday around 1:30 PM will mark exactly a year since Jay and I kicked off this adventure, and as someone that went directly from high school to college to a 40-hour-a-week salaried position with feel health insurance, it was the first time in my life that things were pretty much completely uncertain on the work front. We knew where we wanted to head, I had saved all I could, and there was a gentleman's agreement in place, but we had no business license, no location much less a lease, and our timetable was just as soon as possible.

But I felt good, better than I had in a long time.

Store business first, we're planning on either being open normal hours on Sunday for Christmas Eve (12 - 5 PM) or possibly open and close earlier (10 AM - 3 PM), so stay tuned to the Facebook page for any updates. We'll be closed on Monday for Christmas, and then back to regular hours on Tuesday and onward for the foreseeable future (no plans to change for New Year's Eve or Day). According to our distributor, new releases should be on schedule for Wednesday, December 27th and Wednesday, January 3rd, but again we'll keep you posted if anything changes.

The rescheduled Festival of Holiday Lights at Elon was perfectly pleasant. I got a lifetime 5K PR during the Running of the Balls. And now tonight is Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi!

I've got my Poe jacket and my Resistance pilot backpack with me, but I decided to leave the lightsaber at home.

Even though liquidating more than half of my collection and opening the store quelled many of my collector/ completionist tendencies, putting the needs of our customers and, you know, money over my own, I'm not complete immune.

Next month, I will watch Love Actually as I begrudgingly put all of my Marvel Tokidoki ornaments on the tree. I will belt along to Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band's version of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" in my car. I will try not to cry during the Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip episode  "The Christmas Show."

So much going on this week! Local Comic Shop Day this Saturday at both Greensboro & Winston from 11 AM - 8 PM, Super Famicon 2017 Friday through Sunday at the Elm Street Center in downtown Greensboro, the Greensboro Toy, Hobby & Sportscard Show Saturday & Sunday at the Greensboro Coliseum, the Doomsday Clock 3 Minutes 'Til Midnight Release Party on Tuesday night from 9 PM - 12 AM, closed on Thursday for Thanksgiving Day, and then Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday madness!
